Yacht and Boat surveyors based in the North east of England and the Canary Islands
Types of Survey
We offer a comprehensive marine surveying service including the following types of survey:
Condition survey for insurance purposes
This is a comprehensive survey that normally takes place with the vessel out of the water.
The following is a list of the main items inspected during a survey.
• Deck / Superstructure
• Sea inlets
• Gas Installation
• Fuel Installation
• Stern gear / propeller
• Cathodic protection
Following the survey the client receives a verbal summary followed by a full written report.
An insurance survey is similar to a full condition survey but normally carried out on vessels over 20 years old. It includes an out of the water inspection and covers the structural integrity and general safety of the vessel. Please note we no longer carry out pre-purchase condition surveys.
MCA Code Compliance survey
If you wish to operate your vessel commercially, we are authorized by the RYA, MECAL and SCMS Certifying Authorities to undertake examinations in connection with the MCA Small commercial Vessel Codes of Practice for vessels under 24m.
If your boat is damaged as a result of an accident you may require an inspection before and after repairs are carried out. We carry out damage inspections on behalf of underwriters.
A valuation is often requested at the time of survey for insurance purposes.
A sea trial may be requested particularly on power boats and is additional to a condition survey. Oil analysis tests can be carried out on machinery and transmission.
We carry out Tonnage Measurements on vessels under 24m LOA on behalf of the, RYA, SCMS and MECAL for Part 1 registration.
